Eric Ringuette, guitarist and vocalist of ER and the Other, remembers an early gig back in 2014. A Battle of the Bands where, unfortunately, during their set, the skin on the backline kick drum popped and became unusable. Left with little option, the band flipped the drum around and mashed the drum head through an unhinged set in rock'n'roll defiance. Ringuette says it paid off, "We came in second place, and got free haircuts."

For more than a decade, Saint John, New Brunswick's ER and the Other has captivated audiences on Canada's east coast. Comprised of cousins Eric Ringuette on guitar, and Corey Bonnevie on drums, the duo melds stoner riffs and garage rock energy for music that's mean, minimalist and memorable.

The "ER" in ER and the Other is singer, guitarist and electrician Eric Ringuette. His cousin, musician and producer Corey Bonnevie (Doctor Mother Father, Little You Little Me), is "the Other." A natural collaboration, songs spark from Ringuette's riffs and lyrics, while Bonnevie takes those ideas and forms familiar structures.

It's a sound Ringuette affectionately refers to as "New Dad Rock." Replacing the Classic Rock of his parents' generation, ER and the Other draws inspiration from the early aughts Rock revival vibes of Queens of the Stonage and Jeff the Brotherhood, the inventiveness of Ty Segall, and the OG heaviness of Black Sabbath.

"Numb", ER and the Other's most recent single, released in July 2025, is the group's first new music since their self-titled debut in 2015. Exploring decidedly darker material than the band's previous work, the track was recorded by Bonnevie at his Monopolized Studios in Saint John, New Brunswick. With more music promised in 2026, ER and the Other are experimenting with a fuller band sound in the studio and finding inspiration from the observable world..
